Every 8 minutes, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster. Think about that for a second…
8 minutes from now, Red Cross volunteers will be dispatched to another disaster scene, where they will provide much needed relief to one or more families in desperate need.
Every year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters nationwide. The vast majority of these are home fires – where people have lost everything from the roof over their heads to their most cherished possessions. Here in the Eastern New York Region, we respond to nearly 500 disasters annually, helping more than 800 local families each year.
American Red Cross Giving Day is happening on April 21, and we need your support to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who desperately need shelter, food and other essentials after disasters big and small.
During this one-day event, we invite you to help support our critical and lifesaving mission. Join CDPHP and thousands of people like you to make a difference and #help1family. Consider this:
A gift of just $88.50 can provide a family of three with a day’s worth of food, plus blankets and other essentials, after a disaster.
Your support on Giving Day could also help:
- Deploy an emergency response vehicle. A $335 donation could enable Red Cross workers to travel to disaster-affected neighborhoods in a fully-stocked Emergency Response Vehicle, providing food, water and critical relief.
- Provide clean-up kits after disaster strikes. A $120 donation could make clean-up kits containing vital items like mops, buckets and disinfectant available to five families in need.
- Supply warm meals. A $60 donation could provide six hearty, comforting meals for people impacted by disaster.
- Deliver cozy blankets. A $30 donation could provide six warm blankets to help ensure that children and families facing disasters can still get a good night’s sleep.
This Giving Day, YOU can help us provide vital assistance to families when they need it most. Schedule your gift now, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. If we each #help1family, think of what we could do.
